Sacramentals are holy actions or objects that help increase God's life in us through the prayers of the whole Catholic Church.  The action of making the sign of the cross is a sacramental, for example, as are the holy objects of blessed water and salt.  Other examples are blessed candles, religious medals and the brown scapula.

Sacramentals differ from the Sacraments of the Catholic Church.  While the Sacraments confer the grace of the Holy Spirit through the direct power of Jesus Christ, sacramentals prepare us to receive grace and cooperate with it.

Blessed water, salt and other Sacramentals are a symbol of God's grace and work through the faith of the believer.  Such faith must be Christ centered, as was the faith of the blind man in the Gospel according to John.  His faith resided in Jesus, not in the mud and spittle used by Jesus to heal him.  Sacramentals should not be associated with supersititions such as the belief they have magical power.

You may bring these items with you and I can bless them for you after the Healing Mass.
